Hey guys was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on my Blog and tell me how I could improve it. I’ve gone with the simple ‘feed’ theme similar to Instagram. This is so I can showcase each day a daily photo that I have took.
Would be much appreciated, thanks!
This is entirely up to you how to design your site’s look and feel and how often you upload among other things. I’ve been blogging since 2000 under different names and blog themes. These days it’s all about photography in my adopted city. Check out other blogs, both photography orientated or otherwise, see what they do. Sorry I can’t be more specific!

Yes I agree! I feel like it all fits into what I want to show but I didn’t want it to look too plain and boring, I will sure keep checking out different blogs to gather more ideas. Thanks!

Simple is good, IMO. Your home page loads slowly, but that could be my connection, which varies in my rural location. Keep posting what you like to offer, visiting other sites for ideas and folks to share with. Good luck!

Hello, Nathan… From what I have seen, your photographs are wonderful.
The best advice I can give you is this… Keep shooting pics of anything and everything from simple to the exciting. You never know what you can catch.
I’m not quite sure what kind of ideas you are looking for…

That’s what I was thinking capturing a bit of everything making sure it suits my blog well, thank you for feedback means a lot!

Anytime! The best advice I can give any blogger is enjoy, love, and be passionate about what you do!
Have fun with it! 😉

It would be cool to add a paragraph or so of what you were doing when you took the pic. Like you did with the tree and how you used your iPhone to capture it. This takes the viewer there with you a bit more. Thanks for following my blog today and I look forward to viewing your photographs

Hi Nathan,
I use the free themes which are provided by WordPress so I can add something at the top of my front page. The theme I’m using at the moment is called Exhibit. I also learnt through trial and error how to add menus . People also like to read the about page which gives a little bit of information about the blogger.

Definitely get your about page set up, Nathan!. Your images are lovely, and like someone else mentioned, tell us a little about the photo! A blog is not Instagram, so be a visual storyteller! Be sure to interact with other bloggers as well. And enjoy it!

In terms of setup, simple can work very well. I do suggest having a schedule of how many posts per week you expect to do. Also, are you using tags so that your blog gets out to as many people as possible?

Yes scheduling how many posts is a good idea, currently I am using tags. I’m not sure if I am using them to there full advantage as I am trying to.

I try to have anywhere between 25-40 tags.

I think that your pictures are very pretty. Some other people have said to just add a paragraph or so, and I agree with them. As someone who is continually learning about photography, I’d like to know a little more about why you chose that subject, how you played with light, and what was going through your mind. I look forward to seeing more of your photographs!

Hi Nathan, I also agree with it is best whatever you decide yourself, and blogs grow in a natural way also over time. Great to see your photos, though I have only seen a few so far. Thank you for visiting my blog and letting your own blog be known in this way. Cheers 🙂

I’ve been blogging on & off for 11 years. I’m on my second blog. All blogs evolve. So do bloggers.
I don’t use Instagram so, I can’t comment on that. But, I can offer a suggestion on posting pictures, here. If you use the ‘featured image’ setting, your first image will not show up in the Reader on the phone app. WordPress has bugs. It’s programmed in the same language as Facebook…PHP, so it has issues. Honestly, I would avoid the ‘featured image’ setting altogether. Just my two cents.
I saw where you visited my Liriope post. Cee Neuner runs a Flower of the Day challenge for anyone that wishes to participate, whenever they want to participate. I also have my own POTD…picture of the day posts that I do on my own…random stuff that really doesn’t belong in any particular category. That is just my thing.
Many bloggers run non-stop challenges daily. Be wary of the Blogging Awards, tho. They make their rounds and they are more like email forwards than genuine ‘awards’. Your award will be your followers & commenters.
Have fun!

A good choice I think is a combination of posts with some narration, and others where the picture speaks for itself. I have found that if you must click to open the post, it is less likely to be seen. Pictures are seen, so if you can get them to catch it at first glance, you are ahead. If you put some narration in the body of the page, the image turns into a thumbnail, and you would have to open the post to see the whole deal. However, if you just title it, then the picture is large, and the title is in white below.
I notice you have some of both. I would say a balance, some with a reason and some to be guessed at, could be a good way to go. If you feel you want the large picture effect, but want to add some context, you always have the comment space to do so.
Cheers and thank you
